I’ve been privileged to serve as president and CEO of Akron Children’s Hospital for more than 30 years, and during that time, our organization has witnessed tremendous growth at our Akron campus and throughout northeast Ohio.
In fact, each year we have more than 650,000 patient visits at 80 locations in the region.
While we have been continually expanding into our region to better serve our patient families, our sickest children will always come to our Akron campus. As a result, in 2013, we embarked on an exciting expansion project that will house an expanded neonatal intensive care unit, emergency department and outpatient surgery center.
This $200 million investment will transform the way we deliver care to the families we’re privileged to serve.
Our campus expansion plan will not be possible without you, which is why I hope you’ll support our capital campaign, appropriately named “Building on the Promise.” The name brings to mind the three promises written long ago that serve as guiding principles in everything we do:
- Treat each child as our own
- Treat others as you would want to be treated
- Turn no child away regardless of ability to pay
